Comprehensive ABA
Comprehensive ABA is often recommended when a person with autism needs support in several areas, such as social and communication skills, learning and other adaptive skills. It aims for lasting change in overall functioning.
With younger children it is also known as Early Intensive Behavioural Intervention (EIBI).
Focused ABA
Focused ABA is time-limited and targets specific concerns such as aggression, self-injury or disruptive behaviour, or teaches a specific academic, social, communication or functional skill. Services use function-based strategies: changing the environment, building motivation, and teaching and reinforcing new skills.
Home-based ABA
Most families use our ABA services at home. Learning in the natural environment makes it easier to teach everyday skills such as eating, playing, toileting and hygiene, as well as language and communication.

Comprehensive ABA
- Several areas of functioning at once
- Often several months to a couple of years
- Called EIBI with young children

Frequently asked questions
What is Applied Behaviour Analysis?
ABA is the science of behaviour change. It applies principles of learning to improve socially significant issues such as challenging behaviours and learning.
What is the difference between comprehensive and focused ABA?
Comprehensive ABA aims for lasting change across several areas of functioning and is often delivered over months to a couple of years; with young children it is also called Early Intensive Behavioural Intervention (EIBI). Focused ABA is time-limited and targets specific concerns or skills.
Why is ABA delivered at home?
Home-based ABA lets children learn functional skills in their natural environment, which makes it easier to teach daily living, language and communication skills.
